Quench Oil Testing

Our Company, Idemitsu Lubricants America Corporation, has a blending and testing facility located at the southern tip of Indiana.  Our Manufacturing facility is ISO/QS9000 certified.  We provide top quality lubricants as well as top quality testing.

Our Lab is supplied with state of the art testing equipment and is now offering Quench Oil Testing Services for companies that use Quench or Heat Treating oils.  Our testing procedure for quench oil is the JIS-K-2242 method.  Our Quenchometer uses silver tip probes to measure time-temperature relations of the oil.

Silver is used as a thermocouple since it has one of the highest heat conduction coefficients. This gives very precise and consistent measurements.

Price List

Quench Test/JIS-K-2242

               $135.00

The cooling curve test is by far one of

the most precise and only test that characterizes oil performance through its entire quench envelope. Your customer data sheets will include the harden-ability factor plus the Cooling & Rate Curve.

Total Acid Value/ASTM D664

                $15.00

The degree of change in the total acid value from that of fresh oil offers a criterion to determine how much the oil has oxidized while in use.  Oil oxidation can cause sludge and leave stains on quenched parts.

Water Content/ASTM D1744

              $20.00

Water Content in quenching oil brings about unfavorable effects in all instances. Great care has to be taken to control this criterion. High temperature and water content can act as an oxidant catalyst, speeding up the deterioration of oil.

Viscosity/ ASTM D445

             $15.00

Quench oil viscosity will vary over the life of the oil. Viscosity of quenching oil can be measured most accurately and therefore it is usually tested.
